My classes begin tonight, though in light of world events it seems like we have more to learn than one lifetime will allow.
It seems very obvious to me that New Orleans should never be rebuilt on site. This disaster has revealed a vulnerability that will not go un-noticed. Somewhere a terrorist is watching TV and saying to himself: "So all I would have had to do is blow up a levy and a major city would have been destroyed and those left would turn on each other? Please, oh please, rebuild!"
No matter where we live, we are only a few hours away from anarchy.
Why was there such a difference in the response of the local citizenry to the events of 09/11/2001 and 08/25/2005?
Why would anyone say that Katrina hit so someone could get what they deserve? It is suicide for any of us to suggest that people need to get what they deserve, Robert Kennedy.
Lord, come quickly...
